British GRI conference is just five weeks away; conference progamme now available

GRI, the global club of senior real estate investors, developers and lenders, is hosting its annual two-day British conference in five weeks amid a context of renewed uncertainty in global markets.

This year’s two-day conference, on 3-4 May at the Institute of Directors office on 116 Pall Mall in London, offers a comprehensive set of Chatham House-governed discussions on the major themes in UK and European real estate investment and finance with fellow senior industry professionals.

For those interested in joining the final programme and to register for the event, please visit GRI’s website here which also confirms a list of attending delegate participants to date and an outline of the individual sessions.

GRI meetings have no speakers, no presentations. Instead, you have a selection of closed-door discussions where everyone can participate.

Among the confirmed discussions are:

  • UK OUTLOOK – Batten down the hatches and full steam ahead or wait out the storm? The discussion will include co-chairs: Sameer Dalamal of Och-Ziff Management Europe; Paul House of Venn Partners; Adam Joseph of Macquarie Group; and Serge Maton of CarVal Invetsors;
  • DEBT MARKETS – As the debt trickle becomes a fire hose, will spreads collapse? The discussion will include co-chairs: Gregor Bamert at AVIVA UK; Stefanie Hanstveit at Wells Fargo; Anil Khera at Blackstone; Andreas Wuermeling at Deutsche Pfandbriefbank; and Jose Holgado at FMS Wertmanagement.
  • OPPORTUNISTIC & VALUE-ADDED – Worth the work? The discussion will include co-chairs: Sanjoy Chattapadhyay at HIG Bayside Capital; Artem Korolev at Greenoak Real Estate; Andrew Radkiewicz of Pramerica Real Estate Investors; and Oleg Pavlov at Quadrum Real Estate.
  • THE CRASH – What will be the trigger? Are we agile enough? The discussion will include co-chairs: Robert Harper of Blackstone; David White at Tyndaris; Shamik Narotam at Morgan Stanley; and Edouard Fernandez at EQT Partners UK Advisors.

Robert Marten, managing director at Global Real Estate Institute, said: “Remember 2015? Boy, we had it good back then. The sun shone upon the British Isles like it was 2007 – that unfettered exuberance was intoxicating. But we all knew, deep down, that it was to be short-lived. And indeed it was, as drama began to unfold in the stock markets and on oil fields afar. So does this spell a return to doom and gloom or should one remain cautiously optimistic?

“At the British GRI, senior real estate professionals meet to compare such thoughts, to identify likeminded partners, and to maintain a healthy pipeline of new acquaintances. If you enjoy keeping the company of the industry’s elite, then I’d be delighted to welcome you to 116 Pall Mall this May 3rd and 4th.”
