UBS Global Asset Management’s global real estate (GRE) business has appointed Colin Humphries as the new assistant portfolio manager for the UBS Participating Mortgage Real Estate Fund (UBS-PREMF).
Humphries, who joins from Canada Life Investments, will focus primarily on the fund’s lending activity (origination, underwriting and monitoring) as the fund deploys the capital raised so far during its first and second closes.
He will also support marketing efforts ahead of the fund’s final close in June 2015 and will also undertake governance, risk management and investor relations work.
Humphries brings with him more than 30 years’ experience in the real estate industry, with the last 20 years focused on real estate debt in the UK and the Netherlands.
At Canada Life, Humphries was business development director at where he was responsible for sourcing property-related senior debt and played a key role in tripling their loan book from £650m to £2.2bn.
Humphries has also held senior debt structuring roles at Aareal Bank AG, Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Schroder Property Investment Management.
